Manama: A new India Passport and Visa Application Centre has opened in Jubail in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province to provide residents and Indian citizens living in and around the city with greater accessibility to visa applications and passport facilities.

The new facility inaugurated by India’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmad Javed on Saturday will allow travellers to India to submit their visa applications and the Indian community to renew or apply for passports.

The demand for the centre became pertitent as the number of Indian expatriates in the area has grown—the new centre puts the number of facilities in Saudi Arabia at 11.

For passport application services, the launch marks the seventh VFS Global centre from where Indian citizens in the Saudi kingdom can submit applications for new passports or renewals and avail attestation services.

“With more than 3.2 million Indian diaspora in the Kingdom, we have the distinction of serving the largest number of the diaspora in the whole world,” Javed said. “It has been the constant endeavour of the embassy to provide services to the diaspora as near as possible to their doorsteps. We have taken several steps to improve services. The opening of the India Passport and Visa Application Centre in Jubail today is another step in this direction.”

The centre is open from Saturday to Wednesday.
