Dubai: Namibia's Raymond van Schoor, who was voted by the tournament match officials as the Player of the Tournament for scoring 324 runs in nine games of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers at an average of 54 and a strike rate of 110.95 and also picking up six wickets, is delighted with the honour.

"It's a big honour to be the Player of the Tournament. There were big names like Kevin O'Brien just to mention a few, so it is a great honour," remarked the soft spoken Van Schoor.

However, he could not hide the disappointment over his team not making it to the Twenty20 world Cup despite their fine performance. "It's a big disappointment for the team. If someone had told us to take third place before the tournament we would have taken it. But winning seven out of seven, it's disappointing to not make the final."

Van Schoor played some scintillating knocks in the tournament and when asked what was the secret behind his form, he said: "We worked hard back home trying to get pitches a bit slower like the ones we played on here. However, the Dubai stadium wicket turned out to be one of the quicker pitches we played."

Van Schoor cracked an unbeaten 73 against Italy and 49 against Kenya. He also hit 60 runs against Uganda and remained unbeaten with 79 against USA but in the knock-out stage he failed in both the innings, scoring only one run but he relished the experience.
