Dubai: The experience of Kristian Tzanov came through on board Brigante in Division 1 at the end of the Airbus Spring Regatta held at the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club over the weekend.
Bulgarian Tzanov, a former motocross racer who later switched to competing in various watersports championships in the Middle East, led Brigante to victory even as Cam Price on board Sovreign and Rostant and Collins kept pursuit on Nefertiti.
Division 2 was won by Turnbull and Hosking in their boat Rush Knot who finished ahead of Brittons Walls and Coats on Privateer. Rob Bennett in Blitzem came in third. In the J22 class, it was Jon Webber all the way on board Just Like That, closely pursued by Anderson on Elaion and Mike Cross on Catch 22.
Shea Smith won the Cadets class and Harry Bone-Knell took top honours in the Optimist class. Hannah Wardle came out tops in the Topper class while Fionn Conway clinched first place in the Laser 4.7 class. In the Laser Radial Dom Wardle finishing ahead of sibling Ben, while Tom Georgeson won the Laser Standard.
