Dubai: Al Shabab Club left for Iran on Monday, confident of putting their campaign firmly back on track in the Asian Champions League even as Al Nasr readied to host Qatar's Lekhwiya on Tuesday evening.

Al Nasr will play Lekhwiya at the Al Maktoum Stadium at 8pm, while Al Shabab will face Pirouzi at the 100,000-capacity Azadi Stadium at 5pm (UAE time).

Al Shabab coach Paulo Bonamigo said that his players are keen to make amends for the lost two points following their goalless draw at home against Al Gharafa of Qatar in their opening Group D match here earlier this month.

"We are focused on not making the same mistakes all over again," Bonamigo told Gulf News before the team's departure to take on Pirouzi Athletic in Tehran on Wednesday.

"We controlled the match most of the time but could not find a goal and with it the three points. Maybe there was a bit of pressure on the boys because they were playing at home and this was their first match of the Asian Champions League. But with tomorrow's match away, we will be under less pressure from the fans and we will definitely go all out for a win," the Brazilian coach promised.

Al Hilal and Pirouzi Athletic also split points in Saudi Arabia as the four teams are on equal footing at the end of the opening match in Group D. "We have to look at a fresh start now against Pirouzi. All four teams are equal and now is our chance to make the move with three points," Bonamigo said.

The Dubai club's cause was helped immensely at home last week when they thrashed bottom-placed Sharjah 5-1 in the 15th round of the etisalat Pro League. And though the win was welcome, it was the two goals from January signing Welker Marcal de Almeida [Kieza] - brought in place of fellow Brazilian Julio Cesar - that made Bonamigo even happier.

"He [Kieza] is a fighter. He has been working hard, but he has been unlucky so far. Hopefully, we will get many more goals from him to contribute to the success of Al Shabab," he noted.

"But we don't want to look too much into the Sharjah win as this is a domestic competition and the Asian Champions League is completely different. The main thing for us would be to keep our focus for the full 90 minutes and we can return with full points," he confided.
