Dubai: The second stage of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty20 qualifiers will commence today after a day's break with unbeaten Afghanistan and Namibia leading their respective groups with eight points each.

In both groups, there is an intense battle on among four teams with six points each.

All 16 teams participating in this tournament are currently targeting a place in the top three of each group which will keep their chances of qualifying for this September's ICC World Twenty20 Sri Lanka 2012 alive.

Except for Bermuda from Group A and USA and Oman from Group B, all the participating teams have won one match each.

Defending champions Afghanistan have won all their matches. Seventh-seeded Namibia has emerged as a strong favourite after impressive shows.

Italy, Kenya and Uganda are all tied in fourth place in Group B, having won two matches each.

In Group A, Papua New Guinea and Nepal too are tied with four points each. Canada and Netherlands from Group A and Ireland and Scotland from group B have one defeat and six points each.
