Dubai Al Ahli's Iranian professional Milad Midawoodi wants to score in each of the remaining matches to ensure his team comes out top at the end of the etisalat UAE National Football League.
With exactly a month to go for the conclusion of the season, the talented Midawoodi wants to create the right impact from his favoured position along the left flank.
"I want to score in each and every game from now on...this is the promise I want to make to the Al Ahli fans," Midawoodi told Gulf News after a training session on Wednesday.
Impressive
"This is the goal I have set for myself for the last five matches and I want to achieve this objective to help Al Ahli reach the rare double victory this season," stated the 23-year-old Iranian.
Midawoodi played for a season for PAS Tehran's first team before moving to former champions Esteghlal Ahvaz for the Persian Cup during the 2006-07 season.
He was so impressive with his scoring prowess that Al Ahli roped him in during the final transfer window on February 1, when Midawoodi signed a four-month contract with the Dubai club for a reported transfer fee of $600,000. He has scored a modest 14 goals in the 44 games he has donned colours for Eshteghlal during the first half of this season.
He has also served the national team well, finding the goal once in his seven appearances since last year. After his stint with the President's Cup champions, Midawoodi will have to go back to Eshteghlal where he is contracted to stay till 2010. "My job is to score goals and that is what I want to do always," Midawoodi stated.
"For a champion side like Al Ahli it will be even more of a pleasure as they have the quality of champions," he smiled.
Al Ahli is one of the four teams with a realistic chance of seizing the league title this season along with current leaders Al Shabab, Al Jazira and Sharjah.
They have to play four of the five matches remaining on home turf, with the fifth one scheduled against Al Nasr in Dubai itself.
However, the Iranian seems to be goal shy for his new club, having found the target on two occasions so far.
"Maybe it is a question of adapting to the new conditions or it may be a matter of just bad luck," he noted.
"Hopefully, everything will be all right now as we enter the final stretch of the league," the Iranian hoped.
