Dubai Yousuf Abdullah, the general secretary of the UAE Football Association, says the board of directors to be elected in may will be responsible for ensuring a well-prepared team arrives in London for the Olympics.

"The elections to choose the new board of directors for the UAE FA will be held on May 16 and one of their main responsibilities will be to back this team as they prepare for the London Games," Abdullah told Gulf News as he waited at Dubai International Airport Thursday.

"We have an Interim Committee headed by Yousuf Al Sarkal at the moment, but things will get clearer only after the new board of directors take control following the elections in May."

The official is hopeful the success can rub off on Bani Yas, Al Wahda and Al Shabab, who are participating in the AFC Champions League. "Hopefully, the return of the Olympic team players will boost these teams," Abdullah added.
