Ramallah: The Palestinian Ministry of Detainees' Affairs has lodged a complaint with the Israeli Higher Court of Justice against the Israeli Prison Service which is alleged to be conducting DNA tests on Palestinian prisoners on unknown grounds.

Speaking to Gulf News, Eisa Qaraqei, the Palestinian Minister of Detainees' Affairs, said on Wednesday that the Israeli Prison Service has already started performing DNA tests on Palestinian prisoners in Majedo, Shattah and Jalboue prisons.

Qaraqei said that prisoners who refused to undergo the DNA tests were punished. In other cases, prisoners were strapped down and forced to undergo the tests.

"As per international laws, prisoners need to approve any testing, but Israel seems to hold itself to different standards," he said.
