Manila: A complaint has been filed before the regional sporting body against two members of the Philippine national football team for alleged sexual harassment.

In a letter addressed to Lim Kia Tong, chair of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) discipline committee, Christy Ramos-Jalasco, ex-chair of the Philippine Olympic Committee, accused two members of the national football team of acting rudely and making sexually explicit remarks to her in the men's locker room on February 29 prior to a game with Malaysia.

Popularity

The national football team is more popularly known as the Azkals.

"This is to file a formal complaint against Messrs Lexton Moy and Angel Guirado of the Philippine men's national football team, for sexual harassment during the team check for the friendly match between the Philippines and Malaysia…" Ramos-Jalasco's complaint read.

She said that Moy made a loud sexist remark when she was in the locker room while on official duty. All the team members in the room responded to Moy's remark by laughing loudly.

"Additionally when I checked Angel Guirado as he stood in front of me purposely just wearing his briefs, he made no attempts to wear shorts or cover himself. Again, the players laughed loudly," added Ramos-Jalasco.

Disrespect

Ramos-Jalasco, one of the four daughters of former president Fidel Ramos, said it pains her that despite her efforts to help the Azkals, the team members gave her such a disrespectful treatment.

"I have been a match commissioner 200 times. and it pains me to see such an incident involving the Philippine National Football team," she said.
