DUBAI Winning his first international title at the Dubai International Open Bowling Tournament, Kim Bolleby of Sweden feels, will give him lot of confidence in achieving more success in the future.

"I want to be the top bowler. It's a great feeling to win the tournament," said Bolleby, who defeated Remy Ong of Singapore in a tight final.

"I have been really focused coming into the tournament. I was having a pretty lean period for a long time. But now it feels good to be the winner and should give me confidence for the next tournaments."

The 20-year-old fought off a tough challenge from Ong of Singapore but Bolleby held his nerve and struck 245 over Ong's 220 to take the title at the Dubai International Bowling Centre in Al Mamzar.

"I was really nervous and my legs were shaking. I was a bit worried but I kept my cool and did not lose my focus," said Bolleby, who finished runner-up in the Dubai Youth Under-23 Masters after losing to Kuwait's Jasem Abbas Darwish in the final.

"I was a bit disappointed after I lost in the youth finals but winning the Open title more than made up for it. I'm going to Doha for the Emir Cup and hopefully I can carry my form into that tournament."

The Swede credited his success to Team Pergamon and his dad who has helped him since he picked up the sport at the age of two. "My dad has been of great support. He was a bowler himself and I get to learn a lot from him. I have been practising like 15 to 20 hours and around five to 10 hours going into tournaments.

"So now with this victory I hope to carry on the good work," added Bolleby, who pocketed the top prize of Dh60,000, while Ong received Dh30,000.
