Dubai: The British Ambassador to the UAE has assured residents here that entry into the United Kingdom to attend the London 2012 Olympic Games will not be too much of a hassle.

"We will be gearing up with significant staff to process visas during the run-up to the Games. In the UAE, we are expecting a peak from residents here to come and apply for visas to explore the UK during and after the Olympics, and so we are doing everything that we can do to make things possible," Dominic Jermey, the British Ambassador to the UAE told media here this week.

Jermey strongly recommended that it would be wise for people to apply for their visas well in advance to avoid a last-minute rush.

"Athletes and members of the Olympic family participating in the Games will have special visas and there is now an arrangement between the UK and the UAE to allow visas for those holding diplomatic passports," he added.
