Abu Dhabi: The ministers of Cabinet Affairs, Education, Energy, Finance and Public Works will be facing questions on issues at Tuesday's session of the Federal National Council (FNC).
Among the issues which will feature in the questioning session will be the building of 40,000 houses for Emiratis across the country, disparity in the charges for electricity and water in different emirates, and the three-semester system in schools.
Questions will also be posed to the ministers about the creation of a Sharia-based watchdog to oversee Islamic banking and a company to collate borrowers' information.
In his question, Mohammad Mosallam Bin Ham, a member from Abu Dhabi, seeks explanations from Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami , Minister of Education, about the impact of the three-semester system on schooling.
The representatives will question the new system, which was implemented in all government and private schools in the 2010-2011 session.
The education ministry said a decision on the three semester had been taken following research conducted by specialised teams, which examined the benefits of the advanced three-semester learning system.
Bin Ham argues the new plan may have not fit well into the ministry's strategy for upgrading the educational sector. The system features two vacations, with the school year having 180 days and the school calendar being set for three years.
Disparity
Ahmad Mohammad Rahma Al Shamsi, a member from Ajman, seeks clarifications from Mohammad Bin Dha'en Al Hamili, Minister of Energy and Chairman of the Federal Electricity and Water Authority, about the disparity in electricity and water costs in different emirates.
