Abu Dhabi: After his tryst with injuries and scandal, Tiger Woods is on the verge of re-confirming his return to golfing dominance with back-to-back wins, leading day three of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and tied with Robert Rock at 11-under par 205.

Winning his last event, the World Challenge in December to end a 107 week wait for victory, Woods, who has 98 professional wins and 14 Majors under his belt — just four Majors off Jack Nicklaus — looks determined not to wait too long for his next victory, especially if his renewed swing is anything to go by.

Woods said: "Where have I felt better than this? Probably the World Challenge. I was hitting my irons better than I am now, but I wasn't driving the ball quite as well as I am right now.

Progressing

"I tested it [his swing] at the World Challenge. So that was something. I was in the same position in Australia, and ended up finishing third there. Then at the World Challenge, I was right there with Zack [Johnson] going into the final round and I was able to finish that one off. So things are progressing over my last few stroke-play events, so it's getting better."

Current World No25, Woods, 36, whose 2009 marital strife made world headlines and sent his form plummeting, added: "The swing is comfortable, because I remember being in these positions. My body remembers it, because I used to do it; I used to do it naturally, then I got away from that.

"If you look at my career, when I take an extended break and I come back, I usually play pretty good. I'm able to work at peace and work on my game and get everything situated. It's fun when I'm able to control the golf ball like I did."
