The: Dubai Health Authority (DHA) plans to extend its door-to-door medical fitness test services for issuance of visas as well alongwith renewal.

"We have seen a rise in the demand of this service as awareness about this facility has increased since we launched the service. Currently, this service is only applicable for renewal of visas but in future we will extend this to issuance as well as renewal of visas for the convenience of our customers," said Maisa Al Bustani, Director of Medical Fitness, DHA.

More than 9,000 individuals have availed of this service so far, she said.

Medical fitness tests are mandatory for expatriates in the UAE for the issuance or renewal of their employment, residence or student visas and the DHA provides this service, launched in October 2010, through its 17 medical fitness centres and branches.

Al Bustani said the DHA continues to expand its medical fitness centres keeping in mind both geographical considerations and audience type. "We are keen to provide our customers ease of service and convenience and therefore in recent times are have been continuously expanding our medical fitness facilities by adding new centres which cater to different classes of the population."

Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, who visited today an awareness stand for Tawajud, said the DHA launched this service with an aim to provide the business community with a convenient service for medical fitness.

"The service is a fast-track service which is highly beneficial for corporate employees. DHA employees visit the office or home of the individual who has requested for this service and conduct the medical fitness tests required on the spot. At one time, a maximum of 70 employees can be tested. This saves the time of the business community as their employees can get the test done in their offices itself. This service is also beneficial for housewives who do not wish to go to a medical fitness centre to renew their visa," he added.
