Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) have arrested five members of a gang involved in forgery of various documents, according to a press release on Thursday.

Acting on a tipoff, the crime branch of ROP raided a house in Sidab district in old Muscat area and arrested the five, including a woman for forging education certificates, medical test certificates as well as visas.

"Three members of the gang were involved in selling these forged papers in the country while two members, including the woman member, were engaged in creating forged papers at their hideout in Sidab," a spokesperson for ROP said.

The accused were caught red-handed with counterfeit certificates and paraphernalia for forging documents. "All the accused were legally employed by an Omani sponsor but were working independently," he added.
