Dubai: Top seed and defending champion Alexey Kedriouk of Kazakhstan entered the men's singles semifinals of the 3rd Coral Beach Tennis Championships with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Daniel Dupont on Friday.
Earlier in the quarterfinals, Kedriouk had registered a 6-3, 6-1 win over Cecil George to enter the quarterfinals of this annual tournament - the second round of the UAE National Rankings Series.
Australia's Troy Gillham also entered the last four stage with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Aleksa Ilich, while Gaudo Van Ranpey - winner of the Al Safa tournament last week - easily got past Philip Adamu 6-2, 6-2 to enter the last four stage.
Gregory Howe booked the last spot in the semifinals with a fighting 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win over Neil Bulilan.
Youngster Alexa Ilich had outplayed Christian Politz 6-2, 6-2, while Coral Beach pro Philip Adamu had secured a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over upcoming UAE player Majid Bushaqar to move into the quarterfinals in earlier matches.
Filipino Neil Bulilan had secured his place in the last eight with a 6-3, 6-2 cruise over Hassan Sharif of Al Wasl Club, while second seed Howe had outplayed Raj Kumar 6-1, 6-1.
In women's singles, Irina Belova moved into the quarterfinals with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Susan Galeo. Beauty Macleod edged out Marina Bulilan 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, while Sophiya Faisal beat Shadi Fazl 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the next stage.
