Dubai: Six months after the tragic death of Dubai Exiles RFC and UAE national team rugby player Jon Beeton in a boating accident, his widow Tammy, club chairman Mike Wolff and interim director of rugby Mike Cox-Hill presented a cheque of Dh40,000 on Friday to the Ethiopian childrens' educational and community charity "RAEY".

This was part of the money raised by the Exiles and the wider rugby community in the region last summer through the overwhelming response to Beeton's accident. The cheque was presented to Dr Carolyn Roesler, a former Dubai resident and Emirates airline doctor who now acts as the charity's project co-ordinator.

RAEY is the official international charity supported by Dubai Exiles RFC and Tammy felt it was an appropriate charity to donate to given her own role in Dubai as a teacher of young children, her late husband's ties to the club, and his family's roots in Africa.
