Dubai: AC Milan midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng has told Gulf News he believes Carlos Tevez's potential move to the San Siro in the January transfer window would fill a hole for the Rossoneri.

The Argentine striker has been put out to pasture by Manchester City after a fallout with manager Roberto Mancini.

Tevez was found guilty of misconduct by City for apparently failing to warm up against Bayern Munich in a Champions League group match in September. City lost the game in Germany 2-0.

The club fined the 27-year-old international four weeks' wages and suspended him for two weeks after finding him guilty of five breaches of contract over the spat. But even though the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) cut the fine to two weeks' wages, Tevez hasn't played since the debacle.

Offers in

Offering to end his stay in purgatory are AC Milan and Paris Saint Germain, who play each other here in Dubai on Wednesday at Al Ahli's Rashid Stadium from 7.30pm. Another club thought to be interested in the want-away star is Corinthians.

Boateng, 24, told Gulf News: "He's a great striker and I think that he can help us a lot.

"There are a lot of players that I like at Milan. We have Zlatan [Ibrahimovic], who is one of the best strikers in the world, and we have [Alexandre] Pato, who is close to becoming another one of the best.

"But I think that he could fill a little hole because we're missing an attacking player that can also defend as well. He is a fantastic player and I think that he can fit in at Milan perfectly."

Mancini, who wants a straight transfer and not a loan for the troubled forward, said: "We hope AC Milan want to take him. It could be closed in one week or ten days. But I don't know if it is possible. We want to close this situation but they cannot take him on loan."

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said: "I believe and hope that Carlos arrives.

"We have dropped all other leads to bring someone who is one of the best in the world.

"He continues to say that he wants only AC Milan and I am fully concentrated on this deal. The fans can rest assured that if they do not get the result they want it will not be for a lack of effort."
