Doha: A total of 14 medal-winning athletes have been stripped of their medals after testing positive in the doping check-ups made after each competition so far in the 12th Arab Games.

Checks are made on all the gold and silver-winning athletes in the individual competitions and also random samples are taken in the team events.

Female UAE weightlifter Aisha Al Beloushi was stripped from her silver medal in the 58kg category, alongside 10 other bodybuilders — Hosni Hussain and Mohammad Al Khaldi from Jordan, Abdul Aziz Bu Mjeed from Bahrain, Ahmad Jabbar from Iraq, Jalal Al Riyashi, Kamal Abdul Salam, Waheed Al Suwaidi and Waleed Malulla from Qatar, and Mahmoud Al Faddali and Mustafa Naseem from Egypt. In basketball, Hassan Al Simarly from Iraq has been punished, as have judo's Safwan Attaf from Morocco and Mahmoud Jab Allah from Egypt.

An official from the Medical and Anti Doping Committee of the Games announced the decisions and said that the guilty parties were expelled from the Games.
