Dubai: Reports suggesting Sharjah coach Valeriu Tita has been sacked and replaced by outgoing Emirates manager Ghazi Ghrairi are false, according to officials at the club.

Mohammad Al Ansari, media co-ordinator at Sharjah, told Gulf News: "There is no truth whatsoever in this information. I've seen the reports, but until now they are entirely false. Valeriu Tita is still manager of Sharjah club and will lead them in forthcoming matches."

A second source at the club added: "I had seen the news but have heard nothing like this. I think it's a bit of mischievous nonsense spread online. Maybe someone is trying to put themselves up for the job.

"There is pressure on the team to get a result no doubt, but if you had seen the last three games, especially against Al Wahda [1-0] and Al Ain [2-1], if we had managed to nick a draw, neither side would have said anything against it. The club has made a commitment to bring him [Tita] in and I would think it very strange to make a change at this stage."
