Dubai: Dubai Modern High School retained the third Shreyas Memorial inter-school cricket tournament trophy through an eight-wicket victory over Our Own English High School, Sharjah in the final at the Dubai Modern High School ground.
Shorye Chopra and Varun Totadri steered Dubai Modern to victory with unbeaten knocks of 33 runs and 31 runs respectively after restricting Our Own School to 78 for 9 in 25 overs. Dubai Modern reached the target in 14.4 overs.
Hard work
Speaking to Gulf News after the match, Shafiq Ahmad, coach of Dubai Modern School, said: "After our defeat in the first edition of this tournament to Delhi Private School, Sharjah, we have lifted this trophy twice, mainly due to the hard work of the boys. They all train hard every day at the cricket ground and pitches specially made by the school's management."
Chopra, who hit two centuries in the tournament, bagged the player of the tournament award while Totadri won the player of the final award. Kartik Dudeja bagged the best batsman award while Mehdi Raza of Our Own School won the best bowler award.
