Dubai: Alvaro Quiros had yesterday's four stroke overnight lead reduced to two with second-placed Paul Lawrie and Louis Oosthuizen in third gaining ground ahead of today's Dubai World Championship finale.

At 14-under, Quiros, who eagled the seventh, didn't enjoy quite the same form as previous days, bogeying four times.

Lawrie meanwhile eagled the 18th after a bogey on 12 to finish 12-under.

Oosthuizen equalled Lawrie's efforts with an eagle on seven, cancelling out an earlier bogey at the fourth to finish 11-under.

Peter Hanson and Robert Rock, who had been second and third after 36 holes, suffered indifferent third rounds with Hanson double bogeying the 16th and Rock crumbling to two consecutive bogeys on the back nine.

Now nine-under, Hanson is tied for fifth and Rock drops down to a tie for eighth on eight-under.

‘Still leading'

Quiros, who remained upbeat despite the poor day, said: "I'm still leading the tournament, even when the day wasn't the best one,.

"I'm still hitting good shots and good putts, so this is the only thing that matters.

"There's no reason to stop smiling. At the end, I'm leading.

"It's going to depend a lot on the weather conditions, but in general, obviously the par five, if I'm able to hit the ball in the middle of the fairway, I'm going to have chances.

"But I will say, a lot of people have it, because we are watching a lot of birdies and eagles on the par fives. So it's not all on my case."

‘I got it going'

Lawrie said: "I played good all day. Yesterday I really struggled, hit the ball awful off the tee but today was like the first day.

"I got it going and just couldn't get the ball in the hole over the first ten, 12 holes.

"Then all of a sudden I just started rolling the ball in the middle of the hole.

"I'm looking forward to tomorrow, it's a huge tournament. It's a big test but I'm looking forward to it."

Oosthuizen said: "It's all to play for tomorrow, depending on how well Alvaro plays. But you know, hopefully I can give myself a lot of birdie opportunities tomorrow again.

"There's a lot of holes left. It's all going to be on him [Quiros]. He's going to have some pressure.

"I think everybody is going to probably aim a little bit more to the pin, and if we get a few birdies in there, should be a good last round."
