Dubai: Roman Vik played the perfect role of the boss as he won his crucial singles match against Argentinean Fecondo Toledo to lead the Travel Service Team representing Czech Republic to the Inter-Airline Tennis Tournament that ended at the Aviation Club earlier this week.

The 6-1, 7-6 singles win by Vik against Toledo gave his Travel Service Team 32 points, just one more than the Emirates Pilots Team.

The win did not come easy though as Toledo staged a remarkable fight-back in the second set to pull back from 1-5 down and force the tie-breaker that Vik went on to clinch.

The Travel Service Team from the Czech Republic had earlier staked their claim to the top spot with identical 4-1 wins against Lufthansa, the Emirates Pilots Team, and Emirates Cabin Crew 1 team.

This inaugural inter-airline tennis competition had attracted six teams including Lufthansa, Travel Service Team, Emirates Pilots Team and two teams of Emirates Cabin Crew.

Standings:

1. Travel Service Team; 2. Emirates Pilots Team; 3. Cabin Crew 2; 4. Lufthansa; 5. Cabin Crew 1.
