Manama: Bahrain's Court of Appeals on Sunday postponed the trial of two Bahrainis for the killing of a policeman to January 2.

The National Safety Court of First Instance on September 29 sentenced Ali Al Taweel to death and Ali Shamlooh to life in prison for allegedly killing Ahmad Al Muraissi, a policeman on duty in the Sitra area.

According to the court papers, the two defendants used a private car to run over the policeman and attempt to disrupt public order and hinder the authorities from carrying out their duties.

Verdicts by the national safety lower court can be challenged at the civilian court of appeals and subsequently at the cassation court.

A comprehensive report on all the incidents that hit Bahrain in February and March and their consequences prepared by an international commission will be released on November 23.
