Abu Dhabi: Kuba Giermaziak mixes a smile with resolve while speaking about motorsport.

To the point while setting goals for his future, Poland's latest driving sensation sets himself a time limit of ‘three years' in scaling the heights of Formula One racing.

"The next three years are super important for my career as a driver. I have to be winning races consistently whether it is the Porsche Supercup now or GP2 in the near future. I cannot take recourse to the thought that I am young, especially when I consider that F1 already has drivers my age. So if I can't be somewhere within the next three years, then it is simply too late for me," Giermaziak told Gulf News.

With former F1 driver Robert Kubica out of motorsport for a full season now following his serious injury during the Ronde di Andora Rally in February this year, Giermaziak has shown a lot of promise in the world of motorsport. At the moment the 21-year-old is second with 124 points in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2011 for his Warshaw-based Verva Racing Team.

And as expected, much of his future depends on how he performs in the two races here this weekend. "If I win I will not stay in the Porsche Mobile 1 Supercup for next season. The GP2 Series would be a great solution for me and I would look for at least two years in that competition before turning my attention to Formula One," Giermaziak disclosed.

"GP2 racing is a must as it is also super-competitive and one needs the consistency there first before migrating to F1. So my goal is to take things one step at the time… right now the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, then the GP2 and finally Formula One," he added.

The 21-year-old Giermaziak started racing in 2007 and since then has made his presence felt in various series including the Formula 3 Euroseries for the Star Racing Team and now with Verva for the past two seasons in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

Not the right time

"Formula One is not for anyone. It is not just about being fast in a car, but about winning consistently. One has to be at his top level, has to be at the right moment, right place and a bit of luck. So my goal is to go in F1 at the right time, and now is definitely not the right time," Giermaziak admitted.

And hailing from Poland, Giermaziak sees the potential for super stardom. "Mika Hakkinen was my idol growing up, then we had Robert Kubica and motorsport got really popular. And now I have a world of possibilities in proving my true potential at the top-most level," he said.

"But it is one long journey… a lot of hard work along with a load of so many other things that need to all come together. And then, I need to be really fast," Giermaziak said with a smile.
