Abu Dhabi: The UAE Cabinet on Sunday approved an agreement with France to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, chaired the Cabinet meeting which was attended by Shaikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, and Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister.

The Cabinet also approved the UAE's joining a protocol that prohibits, combats and punishes human trafficking, especially that of children and women, which supplements the United Nations agreement combating organised crime.

The Cabinet also approved the use of Arabic as the official language in all federal authorities and establishments in the UAE, and approved the setting up of an Education Coordination and Integration Council.

The Cabinet also approved new heads of nine federal establishments and authorities as shown in the photos at right.

Mohammad Bin Dhaen Al Gumzi was named chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.
