Duba: A senior Dubai Racing Club official has described Shadwell Estate, the sponsors of today's Super Thursday meeting at Nad Al Sheba racecourse, as a 'terrific supporter' of racing in the UAE.

Owned by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, the stud farm is based in Thetford, Norfolk.

Malih Lahej Al Basti, board member of the Dubai Racing Club, said: "Shadwell Estate has been a terrific supporter of racing in the UAE over the years, and the Dubai Racing Club is indebted to Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his generous support.

"Super Thursday has become a leading international fixture in its own right now. Eleven countries will be represented on Thursday's card, worth more than $1.3 million (Dh4.8 million).

Shadwell's Stud Director Richard Lancaster added: "Shadwell are once again delighted to be involved with such a fantastic night's racing at Nad Al Sheba.

"Our association with the Dubai Racing Club stretches back many years and I hope it will continue for many to come. I hope everyone attending the evening's racing will have a night to remember."
