There may be world-class tennis players, fine food outlets and plenty of off-court activities for everyone, but what is an event without a little music?

Well, have no fear as the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships has every angle covered, and music is high up there on the agenda.

Flown especially from Milton Keynes in England, the Red Bullets have already proved a hit with the crowds at the stadium with their upbeat tunes and happy personalities.
‘amazing opportunity'

The group play throughout the day at various locations around the Irish and Century villages from midday until midnight.

Formed on October 1 last year, lead singer and pianist Peter Edwards said the group couldn't believe their luck at securing such an amazing opportunity in the UAE.

He said: "Our agent in the UK heard about the gig and we battled it out with a number of other bands to win the contract.
"It is such a wonderful place and the atmosphere is great — hopefully we will add to it.''

Fantastic Weather

The Red Bullets are a rock/pop band from the UK and consist of brothers Peter and Mark Edwards, John Bailey on bass, Lee Vernon on the harmonica and guitarist Kyle Hall.

Peter said: "None of us have ever been to Dubai before and we are having a great time. The people are fun and the weather is fantastic.''

The group play mainly covers by well-known bands and artists including Elton John, Coldplay, the Rolling Stones and many more. Recent reviews have likened their music to the work of The Hoosiers, Scissor Sisters, Queen and Mika.

The Moosley family were among the crowd taking full advantage of the band. Mother-of-two, Sharon Moosley, said her children hadn't stopped dancing since the music began.

‘Great Buzz'

She said: "It's funny how music can completely change the entire atmosphere. The buzz around the stadium is great but the music just tops it all off. A good move.''

Peter, who has worked as a solo artist for the past eight years, said: "We plan to take as much from this experience as we can. We hope everyone enjoys the music.''

Jamming with Pat Cash

When Patrick Hart "Pat'' Cash wasn‘t playing tennis he was guitar-in hand and entertaining the crowds with his other love, music.

And the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships is no exception! Unable to resist the rocking tunes of the Red Bullets, the official band for the two-week event, it was only four days before former pro Cash was on stage jamming his heart out.

Lost in the music, Cash drew a crowd of all ages and nationalities who clapped along in the sunshine at the Irish Village.

A father of four, Cash was never shy about admitting that his main passion away from tennis and his family is playing the guitar.

Rock Star

Over the years he has taken to the stage with INXS at the 2003 Australian Open and has played with his own band at various events and festivals.

Cash has also jammed on stage with members from bands such as Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, Rose Tattoo, Bad Company, The Cult, The Pretenders and more. He is thanked in the liner notes of the Iron Maiden albums Somewhere in Time and Piece of Mind.
