Dubai: More than 70 aspiring young artists attended the inaugural series of fine arts workshops hosted by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture).
Designed to instill the basics of drawing, Nasekh Calligraphy, Ruqa'a Calligraphy and Islamic decoration, based on traditional Arabic artforms, the fine arts workshops were hosted by talented local and Emirati artists.
"To foster a genuine understanding of arts, it is important for young artists to grasp the basics of any art-form," Khalil Abdul Wahid, Manager of Visual Arts, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, said.
"The fine arts workshops organised by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and led by experts have been designed to nurture local talent and strengthen their skills in traditional art forms such as calligraphy and Islamic decorations, which also underline our heritage and culture.
The popularity of the workshops underscores that the younger generation is genuinely interested in fine arts, and in learning more about the different art forms," he said.
Dubai Culture is the emirate's dedicated authority for culture, arts and heritage. The art works created at the various sessions have been displayed at an exhibition during Ramadan.
"The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has been at the forefront of this dynamic evolution, through our initiatives such as the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Patron of the Arts Awards, the Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre and Sikka Art Fair, among others," Abdul Wahid said.
