Dubai: Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (Adat) claimed their second title in three years with an exciting 7-6 penalty shoot-out win against newcomers Abu Dhabi Holdings (ADH) in the final of the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC) Play for Life Ramadan Championships that concluded in Abu Dhabi late on Thursday.

After battling through five nights of exciting play, Adat, who were first crowned champions in 2009, overcame ADH 7-6 in the penalty shoot-out to win their second crown.

After 30 minutes of fast-paced action, the two teams were tied 2-2 and the five minutes of extra time made no difference to the score. In the tie-breaker, Adat scored all five times while ADH missed once.

Etihad on third

Etihad Rail, another new entrant, pulled all stops and secured a smashing 5-1 win against two-time winners Seha to claim third place.

Adat also produced another winner with Abdullah Juma named the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament, while ADS striker Khalid Hadawi was named the Player of the Tournament. Etihad Rail's Sabri Jamil was the tournament's joint topscorer along with Seha's Ebrahim Fathi with ten goals apiece.

Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Saeed Bin Saif Al Nahyan presented the Adat team with the 2011 Play for Life Football Tournament winners trophy in the presence of Mubadala's Abdullah Rashid Al Hajeri and Carol Sansour Dabdoub from ICLDC.
