Dubai: The MCC-Zayed Cricket Academy team that is touring the United Kingdom defeated England's Guernsey team through an unbeaten 74 from young Moiz Qazi in the Arabian Cricket Festival Under-13 tournament.

Qazi cracked an unbeaten 74 to help his team post 208 for 6 in their 40 overs. Guernsey was restricted to 122 for 9, to help this Abu Dhabi-based academy to win by 86 runs at the Sussex County Cricket Academy grounds in Blackstone.

Incidentally, Qazi is the son of Qazi Ayub, the captain of the UBL team. This Grade 8 student of the Cambridge School in Abu Dhabi, during the course of his unbeaten knock, hit eight fours and a six.

Put in to bat, Zayed Academy lost opener Mohammed Riyan quickly, but his partner Owais Jafar (45) and Simon Charles (11) put on 49-runs for the second wicket. Jafar hit five fours and two sixes.

In another match, the Abu Dhabi academy team went down to Sussex by 53 runs after Sam Rattle took five for 19 from his eight overs to bowl them out for 130.

Charles was the pick of the Abu Dhabi academy's bowling in that game with three for 22 from his eight overs. Maninderjeet Singh and Punja took two wickets each and Gursimarjit Singh and Ayman Gundru a wicket apiece.

The tournament is interestingly poised after two rounds with all four teams the Zayed Academy, Sussex, Guernsey and Buckingham have won one game each. The top two in the group will go into the Cup semifinals and the bottom teams to the Plate.
