Dubai: Getafe FC is targeting to recruit top footballers from the UAE to help boost their strategic alliance with Dubai since earlier this year.
"Ideally we would want at least a player or two from this region playing in our senior team and another couple of players in the youth side," Dr Kaiser Rafiq, Managing Director, Royal Emirates Group and one of the directors at Getafe FC told Gulf News.
"This trip [to Dubai] is to start the process of rebuilding and putting everything pertaining to our ambitious project for Getafe. Very soon we will be having our coach and sports director coming to Dubai on a scouting trip and we would have at least two days of trials to choose the players we want," Rafiq said.
These players, when selected, will be required to join up with the rest of the Getafe squad when they assemble for their opening training session in Spain on July 7.
