Manila: Philippines President Benigno Aquino said he might get married before the end of his term in 2016, a TV report said.

"Since we are warm and not cold to each other, please believe me that it is my wish to be married before or after I end my term in 2016," said Aquino in a speech at the Laguna de Bay.

Aquino's recent date was identified as a 27-year-old school teacher named "Bunny" Calica.

She was seen with him during the concert of Hotdog band at Makati's Dusit Thani Hotel on May 16.

Probes on his love life made him appeal to reporters for more privacy.

In response to his request, Minority Leader Edcel Lagman and Congresswoman Mitos Magsaysay said the president has the right to be happy, but going out on dates should not get in the way of his job.

"I think the President is entitled to his own free time, but, in the same manner that he's entitled to his free time, the presidency demands full time," Lagman said in a TV interview.

"It does not matter how many women he dates, as long as he's doing his job well," said Magsaysay.

Aquino, 50, has been linked to at least four or five women in less than a year. He is the country's first bachelor president.
