Abu Dhabi: Sources in Al Jazira told Gulf News that the club is about to renew the contract of Brazilian Abel Braga, the head coach of the senior football team, after his success in the past three years since he joined the club.

Braga has led the club to win the Etisalat Cup last season and this season he won the President's Cup for the first time in the club's history. All his team needs now are three more points to win the UAE Pro-League (UFL) for the first time as well.

Newspaper reports in Brazil have mentioned that Braga was approached by many clubs to lead them in the new season but he refused to give his consent because he wanted to finish his contract with Al Jazria first and also because he did not want to lose his focus in the last weeks of the UFL.

Braga's contract with Al Jazira will end this season but the club is determined not to release the coach who is at the moment the longest serving coach in the UFL.

Meanwhile, the club is still studying the offer of International club of Brazil regarding their midfielder Rafael Sobis who is on loan in Brazil. The club wanted to extend his loan for one more year while Al Jazira are thinking about the offer.

At the same time, the club's second team is preparing to leave to Qatar to meet Al Gharaha in the AFC Champions League this week.

The first team will prepare for the club's UFL match against Al Wasl next week in the 18th week of the competition in which victory will secure the title for Al Jazira.
