Abu Dhabi: Fifteen students from Abu Dhabi and Dubai Zayed University campus' are due to visit the Edinburgh Scottish Parliament in Aberdeen University to meet parliamentary figures and British officials who are involved with issues of the Middle East.

The students are due to participate in the Annual International Academic Conference on Islamic Jerusalem Studies which is scheduled to be held on February 4, as well as take part in three debates on the Study of Islam and Muslims and Islamic Studies in the 21st century, Multiculturalism and Globalisation.

Dr Sulaiman Al Jasem praised the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and Industry for the training programme organised by Al Maktoum Institute for Arab and Islamic studies in Scotland, in which students participate from several higher education institutes from the UAE and the world.

Al Jasem emphasised the interest from Shaikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and President of Zayed University in the upcoming training programme, which will allow UAE students to gain personal experience in leadership skills, team working, planning for debates and enhance their awareness on global issues.

Prior to the team's departure Mirza Al Sayegh, Director, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Office and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Scotland based Al Maktoum Institute met with students at the airport and discussed the diversity of the training programme which will allow them to interact with other students from different cultures and backgrounds.

The students are due to participate in the Annual International Academic Conference on Islamic Jerusalem Studies.
