Abu Dhabi: A number of senior officials have lauded the Generous Hands initiative launched recently under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the UAE General Women's Union.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA), will bear the cost of implementing the initiative, which aims tot alleviate the suffering of the sick and poor worldwide.

The initiative, a first of its kind in the world, will offer a medical treatment programme for the sick, who cannot afford medical treatment.

The Generous Hands initiative is the third social development programme to be launched with the aim of boosting humanitarian and voluntary work in the Arab and Islamic countries.

Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, Health Minister, said the initiative would help alleviate the suffering of the sick worldwide, particularly those in the poor and deprived segment of society.

It also reflects the deep commitment of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police Chief, said it is not new to see the UAE launching such a humanitarian initiative that aims to boost voluntary and humanitarian work in social services and development to help alleviate the sufferings of the sick who cannot afford medical treatment.

Global charity: Care for the needy

The 'Generous Hands' initiative, a charitable medical programme, has recently been launched to offer medical treatment to needy patients worlwide.

It was launched under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation and the UAE General Women's Union.

The initiative, a first of its kind in the world, will offer a worldwide special medical treatment programme for the sick who cannot afford to pay for their medical treatment.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA), said the initiative involves various medical programmes in various medical specialities with the active participation of well-known physicians.
