Most women will confess that finding a hair removal method that's convenient and relatively painless is a never-ending quest. And it's no different for me. Until now, that is.
Years ago when home-use epilators came onto the market, I, like all other women my age, splashed out on one and was suitably excited to acquire a modern DIY hair removal solution. But pain is a powerful demotivator. And so is inconvenience. Within a few months of struggling to find the time to use the dry epilator and tired of the pain inflicted by it, I found myself running back to the comfort of good old razors, despite the nicks and cuts. There was always the neighbourhood salon one could head to for a professional wax. It's another matter that your skin is quite unhappy in the long run with the former approach.
But having recently been invited to test a new epilator from Panasonic, I can safely say I'm happy to ditch the moody razor. The Panasonic Foam Epilator ES-WD 72, five-in one model has recently reinforced my belief in science and epilator technology. The foam version makes a dry epilator seem like a Stone Age tool!
Firstly, it rates really high on convenience and using it in the shower was a breeze.
Armed with my favourite lavender shower gel, I got to work and in a matter of seconds the tweezer head, which I was instructed to hold at a 90 degree angle, glided over my skin, deep-snipping its way to smooth joy. Sure there is a slight tug at the roots of the hair as you get the gadget working but it's not the kind of discomfort that will make you want to jump out of the shower!
As well as the regular attachments for underarm epilation, there's also a ‘gentle use' cap attachment for those with sensitive skin, plus there's also a model that comes with a bonus attachment to treat heel calluses. For those new to epilation, the brand has thoughtfully introduced a beginner's cap which reduces the number of exposed tweezers thus significantly reducing the pain.
So summer dresses, here I come.
