Mumbai: Former Test star Sudhir Naik, curator of the Wankhede Stadium, who knows Sachin Tendulkar's game very well, has made a wicket that will suit his style of play and thus help him get his 100th century.

Naik revealed that he got a call from Tendulkar as soon as the semi-final was over on the state of the wicket at the Wankhede. Being a senior player, Tendulkar addresses him as ‘Sir' and asked: "Sir, will the pitch be the same or different because of the renovation work?"

Tendulkar was more concerned about whether his home wicket will be apt for the final of a World Cup and not be criticised as being a bad wicket.

When Naik said that the wicket will be very good, he wanted to know about the outfield. Tendulkar has lived up to the image of being the Ambassador of the World Cup not only through his batting display but also top sportsmanship when he had walked even before the umpire had given him out.

When Naik was asked whether Tendulkar would score his 100th century, Naik was optimistic: "If Tendulkar bats for more than half an hour, he will go on to get his century."

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni too has checked on whether the Wankhede wicket will have the same characteristics as in the past. "I have no idea what the Sri Lankans will say after they look at the wicket, but I have made a sporting one that will last the full course of the match, and whoever can put in the effort will be rewarded," said Naik.
