London: A British Airways plane has made an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport on Thursday, forcing one of the runways to be closed.

Six people were injured after flight BA38 from Beijing reportedly landed short of the south runway at around 4.45pm (UAE time) on Thursday.

The undercarriage of the Boeing 777 was wrecked with the back end and the engines touching the ground

BBC television quoted the pilot as saying he had lost all power as it was landing and had to glide it in.

An airport spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that BA Flight 38 arriving from Beijing made an emergency landing. Passengers have been evacuated."

"The south runway is closed but the north runway is still
operating," the spokeswoman added.
