Muscat: The Ministry of Housing has announced that the process of receiving applications for residential and commercial lands will start from April 2.

Citizens who are eligible as per the Royal Decree No 97/2010 can apply via the ministry's website or through Sanad Centres in all wilayats and governorates of the Sultanate, according to a report in government-owned Arabic daily Oman on Wednesday.

Registration of applications will be conducted through internet in the regions and governorates following the announcements in the local media and in accordance with the land availability.

Registration can be done through the ministry's official website (www.housing.gov.om), or through Sanad centres across the country.

Registration in itself will not be considered as approval of the application, it is only the initial step which will be followed by scrutiny. Applicants whose requests meet the conditions and terms will be informed by an SMS.

The applicant should be an Omani national of not less than 23-year-old and has not received a commercial or residential land before.
