Abu Dhabi: Esnaad continue to set the pace in the Reem Investments Municipality League (RIML), but HSBC have also underlined their own title ambitions in Abu Dhabi's new five-a-side football competition.

Week two saw Esnaad extend their 100 per cent record with a hard-earned 7-3 win over Abu Dhabi Municipality and a 6-0 defeat of EMAL (B) to take a two-point lead in the league table.

HSBC cemented second place with fine victories against financial services counterparts, beating Abu Dhabi Finance 5-1 and Tamouh 6-0.

Newcomers Abu Dhabi Media Company indicated their determination to be a force by posting two debut victories, beating Abu Dhabi Terminals 5-0 and EMAL (A) 4-1.

Abu Dhabi Terminals earlier recorded a convincing 6-3 victory over EMAL (A) in their first game.

Held under the patronage of Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the President's Private Department, and played at the Dome at Rawdhat, the RIML has been boosted by two new sponsorship agreements.

Lost ground

With the RIML scheduled to end before May 13, there is still much to play for and plenty of time for teams to make up lost ground on the current leaders.

Abu Dhabi Municipality team captain Younis Awadh said: "The RIML has been a fantastic experience so far and our players have really enjoyed the excellent level of competition and league organisation. We will be looking to push up the league table in the coming weeks."
