Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates and the United States have established firm economic ties through several public and private initiatives, reveals a study.

The UAE has become the second biggest Gulf market for the US and the number of US companies based in the UAE is on the rise, due to excellent infrastructure and an adequate investment environment that encourages trade activities.

The Centre for Information Affairs has issued a study regarding past, current and future relations between the UAE and US on the occasion of US President George W. Bush's visit to the UAE, reviewing the meetings between President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and senior US officials during their visits to the UAE.

Positive visits

The study also highlights the positive impact of the visit made by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces in May 2007 to the US.

The role played by the leaders through visits has strengthened and consolidated bilateral cooperation agreements that serve as mutual benefits towards prosperity and development.

Relations have been built on principles of mutual respect, common cordiality, realism and constructive frankness while addressing regional and international issues. This is reflected in the wide-scale political, economic, commercial, scientific and technological cooperation, said the Centre.
