Ras Al Khaimah /Dubai/Sharjah/Fujairah/Abu Dhabi: The first baby born in the New Year in the UAE was Fatima Bandouq Al Qamzi in Abu Dhabi who was delivered at two minutes past midnight.
"She's the first girl in a family of three boys," said her mother, Aisha.
In Dubai, Mohammad Ali was born eight minutes later at 12.10 am at Dubai Hospital to Emirati parents Wafa Ali Hassan and Ali Murad Hassan Mohammad.
"I am happy because my first baby was due on January 7, but she decided to be born on New Year's Day," said Wafa. In Sharjah, the first baby was born to an Emirati couple at 2.15 am at Zahra Hospital. The second baby Shaikha Jasem Abdul Rahman, was delivered at 3.50am at Al Qasimi Hospital.
In Ras Al Khaimah, Emirati mother Umm Ali, said she was very happy that her baby Ali Salem Ali, was the first to born in the New Year in the emirate.

"This is a special date," she said. Her baby boy was delivered at 3am.
In Fujairah, Mariam arrived at 10.27am by Caesarean section and weighing 3.39 kilos. Mother Siham Salih had earlier 10 years ago given birth to twins.
The last baby born in Abu Dhabi in 2007 was Mariam Abdul Rahman at 11.36 pm on December 31. Her mother Maysa Saaed Al Zaabi, expects her to have a calm and pleasant nature. "My earlier baby was born at exactly 12 midnight," she said. In Sharjah, the last baby of the year was Sudanese boy Maoa'z Abdullah who was born at 10pm at Al Qasimi Hospital. Nihdat, Moa'az's mother had hoped to give birth to her baby in the New Year.
"I planned to celebrate New Year on Dubai Creek but I ended up in hospital and found myself celebrating the birth of my lovely child," she said.
Her husband, Abdullah Othman, is on a business trip to Saudi Arabia and could only share the joy of the newborn in the family over the phone.
Falah Hassan Al Mansouri, an Emirati boy was the last baby born in Ras Al Khaimah, at 7pm on December 31.
"When something precious is given to you at the end of the year, the year to come will hopefully be even more fruitful. Finally, our wish for a baby boy has been fulfilled," said his mother.
Baby boy Ebaid was the last baby born in Fujairah at 10.25 pm on December 31 weighing in at 3.2 kilograms. Mother Amnah Saeed was in good health to welcome baby number 10 in the family. Her husband has three more children by his first wife.
