Dubai: A visitor faces a year in jail after he published on Facebook some nude photos of a Filipina girl, who claimed he raped her, a court ruled yesterday.

The Dubai Court of First Instance charged the 22-year-old Pakistani visitor of breaching the woman's privacy by publishing her nude photos on Facebook and having sex with her.

Prosecutors accused 22-year-old S.T. of luring the Filipina, J.M., to his office where she claimed he raped her twice and used his phone camera to take nude photos of her in the shower and post them on Facebook.

"The photos were taken with her consent… I am not guilty and I did not rape her or send her threat messages or e-mails," S.T. said in court.

Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad, who pronounced yesterday's judgement, said the accused would be deported after the completion of his punishment. The court also confiscated his phone with which the snapshots were taken.

According to the arraignment sheet, S.T. deceived J.M. and raped her in his office. He was charged with breaching her privacy and taking nude photos of her while she showered after he raped her.

He was also accused of sending her threatening e-mails and text messages that he would kill her and post her pictures on Facebook if she reported what happened.

Trick

A Yemeni police first corporal, who questioned J.M., testified that the defendant tricked the Filipina and invited her to a beach party in Jumeirah.

"When I questioned her, she alleged that he convinced her to go with him to his office to give her a plane ticket… then he locked up the door and raped her on the desk. She alleged that he raped her in the shower and used his phone camera to take naked photos of her.

The first corporal continued: "Around 4.30am he dropped her back home in Ajman. J.M. claimed that the next day he sent her a text message saying ‘Accept Dh5,000 for your silence concerning the incident'. He sent her a second message saying ‘Cooperate with me or you will be in trouble and this is your final warning'. She reported police after the third message that read ‘I will post your picture on Facebook if you don't cooperate".

Yesterday's judgement remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
