Dubai: A judge has acquitted a private tutor who faced charges of sexually abusing four girls aged between seven and 11, due to discrepancies in witness testimonies.

While reviewing the case that was filed in June last year, the court reported inconsistencies in the accounts of events presented by the parents and children.

A judge of the Criminal Court of First Instance noted that the discrepancy, as highlighted by the defence, was one of the reasons for his acquittal.

The victim's parents had testified that the suspect sexually assaulted their children using pens and nails.

Another account

Another account alleged that the suspect exposed himself to the girls, records show. Additionally, the court noted that the forensic reports showed no signs of forced intercourse or assault of any kind on the girls.

A.A., an unregistered Egyptian teacher, had been giving private lessons to the girls for three years according to court records.

He was charged with sexually molesting the girls, as well as threatening to kill them, court records state.

In court, A.A. denied these charges on January 9, 2011 and his defence lawyer told the court that the report was filed out of spite against his client.

Public prosecution records showed that AA. was owed Dh3,000 by the parents, who allegedly continued telling him that they would pay him later.

The abuse was reported in early June last year after one of the girls reported the matter to her Palestinian father.

He in turn reported the assaults to the Bur Dubai police station, and the girls were then taken to the medical examiner.
