Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) says it has tagged and registered more than one million livestock as part of the Animal Identification and Registration System (AIRS) campaign.

ADFCA launched the AIRS campaign in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain city three months ago.

A total of 55 teams of four each visited 7,878 farms and registered 105,087 camels, 25,748 cows and 1,050,087 sheep and goats, the authority said.

The campaign that started in the Western region yesterday will reach all known farms by the end of February this year.

"AIRS campaign is progressing and is on schedule," Mohammad Jalal Al Reyaysa, ADFCA's Director of Communication and Community Service, said.

"Farm owners and workers have fully understood the huge benefits AIRS can bring for them, the consumers, the community, and are greatly supportive to the field teams.

This is indeed a major factor helping us to run on schedule and complete both Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Regions on time,"

Al Reyaysa called for livestock owners in Abu Dhabi Region whose animals have not yet been identified to contact the AIRS help desk at 800 555 to provide required details such as farm area and number, GPS Location, and livestock number per species so that AIRS team can visit.
