Riyadh: Abdul Rahman Hamad Al Attiyah, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) congratulated President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the UAE's ranking first on the human development index among Arab countries.
Al Attiyah, in a statement, said this is a source of pride for all of us in the GCC as it is one in a series of significant achievements made by the UAE in terms of development in agriculture, healthcare, education and improvement of living standards.
He highlighted the active role of the prudent leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in realising the aspirations of nationals who are the target of development.
The 2010 Human Development Report was released by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in a ceremony Monday in Abu Dhabi.
