Dubai: The Half Marathon organised by Dubai Creek Striders and sponsored by Johnson Arabia will be held tomorrow.

The ninth edition of the race will start and finish at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and follows a scenic, and cultural, route around the Dubai Creek.

Speaking to Gulf News, Malcolm Murphy, Chairman of the Dubai Creek Striders, said: "Over a thousand entries had already been received, which shows how popular the race has now become".

All entrants will receive a goody bag, a commemorative T-shirt, a finisher's medal and a lavish buffet breakfast at ‘QD's', an open air restaurant with magnificent views over Dubai Creek.

Enthusiastic runners

The Dubai Creek Striders was established by Murphy in 1995 along with a small band of enthusiastic runners, as a social running club that focuses on long distance races. The Club has no joining fees and has over 300 active members.

The club meets throughout the year for training every Friday morning in the car parking area directly in front of the Novotel Hotel, adjacent to the Dubai Convention Centre. The start time and distances vary according to the time of year and weather, with distances ranging between 10km during the hotter months to over 35km in the build-up to the Dubai Marathon.
