Dubai:  The off-screen chemistry between co-stars Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone was hard to ignore at a press conference on Wednesday to announce the launch of their movie Break Ke Baad.

As the event wore on, with reporters throwing questions left, right and centre at the couple, the glances that passed back and forth between the Bollywood beauty renowned for her string of attractive men, and the baby-faced hero, were glaringly obvious.
Padukone got the ball rolling when she defended Khan against a fan who labelled him a prankster.

Barely had 10 minutes passed when the actress couldn’t resist announcing to the media what she really thought about Khan, as compared to Kunal Kohli, the producer, and Danish Aslam, the director. “Kunal’s the oldest one,” she announced, before quickly adding that “oldest in the group doesn’t necessarily mean an old person”.

High praise

Quickly moving on from that disaster, Aslam was next on her list. Fortunately, the first-time director was let off with being described as dashing. The highest praise of the day, however, was reserved for Padukone’s co-star Khan. Looking at him out of the corner of her eyes, Padukone demurely lowered her head and said there’s only one way to describe Khan. “He’s sexy,” she whispered.

While the glances and the giggles between the actors grew, both Imran and Deepika were visibly elated once the press conference was over, with the actress flinging her arms around her co-star, clearing playing up to the cameras, while indulging in some off-the-record banter with her co-star.

The couple were in town, along with Kohli and Aslam, for the world premiere of Break Ke Baad, an urban, romantic coming-of-age comedy about Aaliya and Abhay, a couple whose relationship is put to the test by Aaliya’s burning desire to become an actress.
The movie will release at all major cinemas on Thursday.
