Abu Dhabi: The 4th annual diabetes walkathon organised by the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC) is due to attract more than 10,000 residents this Friday at the Yas Marina Circuit. This was stated by the organisers at a press conference held on Tuesday.

The Walk UAE 2010 is part of ICLDC's award-winning public health awareness campaign held under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the UAE General Women's Union, with the National Health Insurance Company-Daman onboard as the event's sole sponsor.

In 2009, more than 10,000 walkers joined the Walk UAE and paced the five-kilometre route around the F1 circuit. We have high hopes that we shall attract equal if not greater support this year," said ICLDC's Medical & Research Director and Consultant Endocrinologist, Dr Maha Taysir Barakat.
